Finca Las Brisas has some of the most beautiful
Costa Rica real estate for sale. Located on the Pacific Ocean
in the province of Guanacaste on the Rio Frio in the hills
above Playa Samara.
The province
of Guanacaste covers most of Nicoya Peninsula
on Costa Rica's northwest coast. It has over 200 miles of
coastline with more that 70 different beaches. The following
are several of the beaches near Finca Las Brisas.
Note: all of the beaches are pretty close as the "crow
flies" but we are 5 kilometers up a windy mountain gravel road
so the actual time to the beach by driving is 20 to 30
minutes to the closest beaches. All driving estimates are
realistic and vary for the conditions of local roads. (We
have noticed that most of the hotels in the area
underestimate the driving times from the airport and local
beaches.)
PLAYA SAMARA
(20 minute drive)

This is a great beach for children to play in the surf, for
windsurfing, sea kayaking, horseback riding, and for first
time surfers. This is currently the closest beach to Las
Brisas until we build access to the Nosara side of the
property.
Some people claim the
reef on this beach keeps the sharks out of the surfing area
making it the safest beach along the coast.
Clearly we offer some of the most gorgeous

 PLAYA
CARRILLO
(25 minute drive)
This is the closest beach to Finca Las
Brisas and rumored to be the favorite beach of the Costa
Rica president. This secluded destination is set in a
small bay about 5 miles southeast of Samara. The beach ends
at Punta Del Indio (The Cape of the Indian), named that way
because when it’s seen from the opposite side of the bay the
cape resembles someone lying face up. The waters are crystal
clear, perfect for snorkeling around the coral reef or
enjoying the water, since Playa Carrillo is so great for
swimming.
This beach is the perfect place to
end a Finca Las Brisas day swimming, surfing, walking or playing
Frisbee.
 PLAYA
GARZA
(35 minute drive)
A
sportfishing beach, protected by a reef
line
offshore.
Garza, the fishing village has some bars, small native
restaurants and coconut palm trees. When we drive from Las
Brisas to Nosara we pass right through the beautiful area.
This town resembles a small
fishing village
that most
visitors dream of developing when they first see it - until
they discover that Costa Rica has protected the beaches.
What is currently there will stay, but there
will not be new
development on the beach. Costa Rica beaches will never
develop the way
costal areas have in most of the US.
Some of us like to stop and visit with Tom, a retired
counseling professor who runs a little bar there. (Perfect
guy to run a bar, right?)
The beach has as steep slope to the surf and the
waves come
crashing in. The last time we were there we sat out at the
tables in front and waves rolled in right up to our
chairs.
In the picture Benjamin is standing inches away and 10
meters out the water would be over his head and that wave
coming in is much larger than it appears. Great for boogie
boarding!
Local fishing charter boats are available for
day trips or
for just a few hours.
 PLAYA
BUENAVISTA
(35 minute drive)
If you want a private place
to go Buenavista might well serve
your needs. Located 100 meters down from the Flying
Crocodile which is one of the most interesting places to
stay.
One home has a lookout tower in the trees and we are sure you
will find people on the beach during the season, but we
haven't seen any.
 PLAYA
GUIONES
(45 minutes)
One of the longest beaches,
about 5 kilometers of light sand and rolling surf. A
favorite beach for surfers with consistent and dependable
waves. The beach, as part of the National Wildlife Refuge is
pristine with tropical vegetation and offers a private
feeling.
When we were here earlier in the year they had just had the
Costa Rica national surfing championship here.
Because the waves roll in gradually this is an exceptional
place to play in the surf.
Walk around the point to the pink sand beaches and fish for snook, tuna, jacks, or red snapper.
 PLAYA
NOSARA (60 minutes)
Black sand beach and a favorite place for fishermen, because
2 of Cost Rica's longest rivers empty into a lagoon behind
Playa Nosara. Explore up the river by canoe or kayak and
enjoy a unique wonderland of animals and tropical
vegetation.
When the tides are right this is great place to fish.
The beach is also a wonderful walking beach.
PLAYA OSTIONAL (65 minutes)
Black sand beach and the second largest nesting place in the
world for olive ridley turtles. Hundreds of thousands of
females arrive in huge “arribadas” during several nights and
dig holes in the sand to lay their eggs.
Playa Ostional is one of the few places in the world where
you can observe this phenomena. The biggest arribadas
normally occur from July to December.
Zoologists
report that the Ostional population of this endangered
species is stable in contrast to most places in the world
because of the efforts of the locals to protect the area and
the eggs during arribadas.
 PLAYA
SAN JUANILLA (70 minute
drive)
Playa San Juanillo is actually a series of small, mostly
protected coves. The primary cove is a classic picture of
colorful local fishing boats (pangas) protected by a rim of
rocks and reef. Here the water is more calm than most other
beaches on the entire peninsula. This makes for very
pleasant swimming and much better snorkeling than many
places on The Pacific Coast.
Walk out to the point and there are lava cliffs jutting into
the Pacific and tide pools. Round the point and more tide
pools and another beach cove.
